A Cute Idea

I was driving to church on Wednesday and I stopped at a stop sign (I know you are all thinking that that is an odd place to stop) But a 15 passenger van full of people turned in front of me. I happened to notice the licence plate and thought it was cute enough to share. The plate said "ful quivr".

This is a reference to Psalm 127

1Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.
2It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.
3Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
4As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.
5Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.

I love it when parents glory in their children, and seek to raise them well. There are to many people today that just have kids and then they can't wait to get rid of them. They don't take joy in them and they don't invest in them. Such lackadaisical parenting will come back to haunt them.

Socrates was on crack

Well I just handed in my first philosophy paper and boy what a doosey. Not the paper the subject. We had to write on "plato's Apology". all ten pages of it. In 10pt font. yeah he was realy sorry.

Anyway the gist of the story is this.

Socrates was being a philisopher and telling people that they were not wise because only God is wise, but some people did not like that, so the brought him up on charges of corrupting the youth (Which he flatly denied); so in court he tells them not to interupt if he uses weird language (Cause he is old and can't learn new tricks). He tells them that the god Delphi (In real life it is just a computer language not a god) told him that he was the wisest man alive, so to prove this he goes to all these people and tells them they are not wise. but that was not very wise on Socrates part because he made lots of enamies and they took him to court, so he questions them in court and really bashes them good. He makes them defend him and look stupid. then they vote and he is found guilty. Hes says " 'sall good" and suggests that they make him do public service, or die. they go for the latter. then he dies.

Well yeah. So I wrote about something diffrent. I wrote that he was right in most ways(But not about Delphi), and that it was sad that he was so close to the truth, but so far from the Truth, the Way and the Light.

GTG Play practice.

My b-day

Now I know that you all knew that my birthday is less than a month away. Right? Well for those of you that did not know my birthday is on the second of October. (Hint Hint) So I thought that I would just help you out with that constant question of what to get me, and I went through the trouble of compiling a list of acceptable gifts. It can be found here: http://froogle.google.com/shoppinglist?a=SWL&id=47b02f3aa23e47717f6488766f41f24116a7ef

Please note the small notes under each item. (they are there so that you do not need to give me the receipt along with the gift.) Also I do not neccisarily want that specific thing from that specific place just that idea. But I did look for the cheapest place.

Well I don't want to wast any more of your precious shopping time. :)

Back to the grind

Well it is back to school time here at MBBC and things are moving quite rapidly. I am now down in Armatage dorm (Part of Leland, but not really). It turns out that Armatage is not so bad. The longer walk to the dorm makes constant trips there and back undesireable, but there is a referigerator there for anyone to use, so I can keep cold drinkage(Or milk or frozen pizzas etc.).

I have three roomates this year. It started out only two, but then they put another in there(Hope defered maketh the heart sick). I am rooming with Brad meene (My crew leader and good friend), StineB (Funny man that likes the Bears) and Kung Foo Gary(The Wild man of Gedara).

Yep the times are a' coming.

Classes. Yes I am doing classes here too. I have Intro to Philsophy, Intro to Biblical Greek, Intro to Bib. Counseling, Pastoral Life and Leadership, and Baptist Heritage. It turns out that the first week of Greek is fun. We sing Row, Row, Row Yer' Boat With the greek alphabit. "Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta Epsilon, Zeta, Eta, Theta, Yoda, Kapa, Lambda, Mu, Nu, Xi. . .

Well enough of that I am shure you will have enough greek in my posts from now on that we do not need to go into depth here.

Well more later,
