Three of Five

Wednesday started out with a Sponsor meeting, where we heard about the need and power of prayer. We were admonished to pray specificaly, fervently, and continualy, for our teens, and our selves. What a blessing it is to be here. But after the message we were told that we could be a part of the night game, and would get to scare kids. Now most sponsors that here this are like "OK Cool" But I was ready for it. I was a camper 7-8 years ago and I remember the night game. So I came prepaired, but more on that later.

The teens then had their "running the race" chapel session. It is a huge blessing to hear such truth spoken with such love.

After the chapel session they went out the activity field to finish the game of tag o' lot that they had started before the monsoon. There are plenty of pictures on the photo site to explain that.

Following the game the teens had a choice. They needed to go to one of the Workshops for their next chapel session, they could go to "Affluensa: the problem of Prosperity" "WWW.MySinFullSpace.com: Dangers of the internet" "Effective Evangelism: How to witness" or "Private Walk With God: How to develop a devotional life.". These sessions were made to address specific areas in teen life that need work. Following the sessions the teens whent to lunch and then had free time. All except the Sports campers who had already had lunch, and were headed to GYM time and a chapel time before their one hour of free time.

Supper followed right after free time. There were tacos, Rice Crispy Treats, Mac Smack, and Coolade to be had in abundance, but I had to scarf it down and get to the game, because the V-Ball campers were playing on the grass courts. (The ones that the teen campers had played on earlier for cabin compitions.

For me then it was for to the GYM for funny time. (I got it on Video) What a crazy bunch. But right after funny time I ran back to get changed for the evening service, and Councelor/Sponsor Prayer time. We all can see these councilors, every summer, Screeming and bouncing and cheering, and being crazy, but only sponsors get to see them cry. As we get together each night before the evening service these councilors ask for prayer for specific teens. They pray for each teen specificaly and fervently. These prayers are sealed with tears, and they pray with their heart open to God. Many of these councilors are friends of mine from college, and I know that they love each and every one of these teens and whant to see them take the next step spiritualy.
After the evening was bathed in prayer, we gathered in the GYM for the service. The message was on "God's final courtroom" (The Great White Throne Judgement). It was a soul stiring message and many teens came forward for salvation (Not enough that I got to help, but far more than the devil wanted). Many raised their hands saying that they neede to deal with something in their lives, so be in prayer for them this week.

After the Service I was able to help out in the night game. Each cabin was given a certain amount of tokens and was told to go around camp looking for clues (Big game of Clue) But there were spies (Me in a guilli suit, and others) that would pop out and scare them. . . oh yes and take their tokens too, but mainly scare them. So I found a good spot in the underbrush and waited. When teens would come by I would jump out and scream (In my Smeegol voice) "THeives. You stole it. Nasty Hobbits. GHAHAHAH Hiss". Man oh Man those teen guys can scream.

After the game it was off to bed. to get ready for another day.

Second Day

Well today was the second day of camp, and boy what a full one.

The day started out with breakfast and a sponsor meeting where we heard one man's burden for public school teens. WOW what a vision he has. I don't think that I could ever do what he has done with the teens in his area. In today's world where churches are becoming lax, cutting outreach programs, or the leadership in the church has a vision but the people complain that the leadership expects too much of the church people, it is nice to see someone that understands the Bible when It says "Where there is no vision the people perish".

But after that it was time for the teens to be preached to. They learned about Running the Race, and persevering, until the end. They then when outside to get their picture took, and chalenge an opposing cabin to some sort of game. Some played "Tug O' War", "Foseball" "Soccer" or they made their own game up. After the games it was back to chapel for another session, this time about where they are in their Christian Life.

Lunch came next, and what a lunch. We had Spiced Chicken, tangy rice, yeast rolls, and snickerdootles. I don't know what the teens had though, because I whent to the sponsor lunch. :)

Free time took the remainder of the afternoon, and filled it with Wasail, and Fraps from the "Daily Grind", Frisbee golf, talking with the teens and having fun. Until supper. I scarfed down some ham, and mac n' cheese, then ran to the GYM to watch Joy and Summer play V-Ball. On the way back however the biggest storm of the summer hit.
We were forced to cancel the field game, run inside, and then move to the basement of the fine arts hall. Once there we (including me) entertained the teens for an hour or so with some improv comedy. I am a bit rusty.

With our schedual being moved an hour later than we wanted we quickly made our way to the GYM for the evening service. The message was about which direction we are going. To God? Or Away From God? Many teens responded to the Spirit, but not enough that the sponsors were called to help them, but we did pray.

After the service the teens had some Taco Bell tacos, and Pepsi, and listened to some fun songs from the staff, and finaly we were off to bed.
